After
LEE HARVEY OSWALD returned to the United States He briefly stayed with his brother Robert in
Dallas, and after This 22 November 1962 Thanksgiving meeting with the rest of Lee’s
family.

Lee would not see Robert again until after the assassination and his mother only briefly
for a short time.
And Lee would soon leave alone for New Orleans.
After Lee
Oswald arrived in New Orleans to find work he immediately began contacting
relatives there. And as the Warren Commission would put it (
"to develop the facts of
his genealogy" )
He also became quite interested in Cuba. And it’s new jungle
fighting socialist leader Fidel Castro.
And Cuba was not only Oswald interest. After
Castro ousted the Batista government. Which was quite friendly with the United States
Government and also quite friendly with the underworld in the United States
which built and ran
several casinos there.
Among those underworld figures were New York’s
Meyer Lansky,
Miami’s Santos Trafficante and New
Orleans Carlos Marcello.
All of which were in the sights of the Presidents Brother, U.S.
Attorney General, Robert Kennedy.
Including, Chicago's
Sam Giancana
and the Teamsters union boss
Jimmy Hoffa.
To say that they disliked the Kennedy Brothers would be
an understatement.

And
Giancana, one day before he
was scheduled to testify before a U.S. senate committee on CIA
activate in 1975..
There were others that had a keen interest in Cuba, The American military and intelligence. The Soviet military and intelligence. And the Cuban refuges.
There was also someone else that was interested in Cuba,
Jack Ruby.
Jack Ruby grew up in Chicago IL, and may have had connections to the Mafia there.
The Warren Commission that looked in to Ruby’s background found that it was simply coincidental that He move to Dallas in 1947, Which was the same year that the Kefauver committee in the early 1950’s Determined that the Chicago Mafia was attempting to buy protection from the Dallas authorities in order to expand their gambling activities there.
They also found that one of Jack’s closes friends Lewis McWillie moved from Dallas to Cuba in 1958 and worked in the casinos there. And that Jack Ruby traveled there in 1959 soon after Castro took over. Apparently the Warren Commission simply took the words of Ruby and McWillie that this was just a recreational visit, This was a time when many of the casino owners had been imprisoned and had their assets frozen by the Castro regime.
But the House Select Committee on Assassination (HSCA) in the late 1970s determined That:
Ruby entered Cuba on 8 August, left 11 September for Miami, returned 12 September and left for New Orleans on 13 September.
Ruby was also in Dallas during the dates, 8 August to 11 September 1959
That he visited his safe deposit box on 21 August.
He met with FBI Agent Charles W. Flynn on 31 August.
Returned to his safe deposit box on 4 September.
Apparently while in
Cuba he also paid a visit to Santos Trafficante who was in prison there at
the time, thanks to Castro's reforms.

Based on the unusual nature of the 1-day trip to Miami from Havana on September
11-12 and the possibility of at least one additional trip to Cuba, the committee
concluded that vacationing was probably not the purpose for traveling to Havana,
despite Ruby's insistence to the Warren Commission that his one trip to Cuba in
1959 was a social visit. The committee reached the judgment that Ruby most
likely was serving as a courier for gambling interests when he traveled to Miami
from Havana for 1 day, then returned to Cuba for a day, before flying to New
Orleans.
The committee also deemed it likely that Ruby at least met various organized
crime figures in Cuba, possibly including some who had been detained by the
Cuban government. In fact, Ruby told the Warren Commission that he was later
visited in Dallas by McWillie and a Havana casino owner and that they had
discussed the gambling business in Cuba.
It has been charged that Ruby met with Santos Trafficante in Cuba sometime in
1959. Trafficante, regarded as one of the Nation's most powerful organized crime
figures, was to become a key participant in Castro assassination attempts by the
Mafia and the CIA from 1960 to 1963. The committee developed circumstantial
evidence that makes a meeting between Ruby and Trafficante a distinct
possibility. . . .

In 1976, in response to a freedom of information suit, the CIA declassified a State Department cablegram received from London on November 28, 1963. It read:
On 26 November 1963, a British Journalist named John Wilson, and also known as Wilson-Hudson, gave information to the American Embassy in London which indicated that an "American gangster-type named Ruby" visited Cuba around 1959. Wilson himself was working in Cuba at that time and was jailed by Castro before he was deported.
In prison in Cuba, Wilson says he met an American gangster/gambler
named Santos who could not return to the U.S.A. Instead he preferred to live in
relative luxury in a Cuban prison. While Santos was in prison, Wilson says,
Santos was visited frequently by an American gangster type named Ruby.

Later the HSCA would take a closer look at Jack Ruby's Telephone calls just
prior to the assassination and would discover that a
surge of calls where
between Ruby and numerous Mob figures around the country.

She testified that at about 1 p.m.
on November 22, after Oswald had returned to the rooming house,
a Dallas police car drove slowly by the front of the
1026 North Beckley premises and stopped momentarily; she said she heard its horn
several times.
Mrs. Roberts stated that the occupants of the car were not
known to her even though she had worked for some policemen who would
occasionally come by. <END.>
