BRAKING NEWS AMERICA!!!
A SCATHING ASSESSMENT OF THE FINE WORK, OF THE WARREN COMMISSION! And it's members. most of whom had to be dragged, kicking and screaming to join the Commission, by the way.
The HSCA also looked at the insights of J. Edgar Hoover, the director of the FBI from 1924 until his death in 1973 And Found:
< HSCA >
On November 22, 1963, President Kennedy was assassinated and Vice President Johnson became President. President Johnson was immediately faced with the problem of investigating the assassination. On November 23, 1963, J. Edgar Hoover forwarded the results of the FBI's preliminary investigation to him. This report detailed the evidence that indicated Lee Harvey Oswald's guilt. (1) On November 24, 1963, Hoover telephoned Presidents Johnson aide Walter Jenkins and stated:
The thing I am concerned about, and so is Mr. Katzenbach* is having something issued so we can convince the public that Oswald is the real assassin. Mr Katzenbach thinks that the President might appoint a Presidential Commission of three outstanding citizens to make a determination. I countered with a suggestion that we make an investigative report to the Attorney General with pictures, laboratory work, and so forth. Then the Attorney General can make the report to the President and the President can decide whether to make it public. I felt this was better because there are several aspects which would complicate our foreign relations, if we followed the Presidential Commission route. (2)
Former Attorney General Katzenbach told the committee* that there were a
number of factors that led to his belief that some kind of statement regarding
the absence of a conspiracy should be issued without delay:
*** That is, in the face of a lot of rumors about conspiracy, a total silence on the subject from the Government neither confirming nor denying tended to feed those rumors. I would have liked a statement of the kind I said, that nothing we had uncovered so far leads to believe that there is a conspiracy, but investigation is continuing; everything will be put out on the table.
Hoover’s personal predisposition that Oswald had been a lone assassin affected the course of the investigation.
On 24 November 1963, just hours after Ruby shot Oswald, Hoover telephoned President Johnson and said: "The thing I am most concerned about * * * is having something issued so we can convince the public that Oswald is the real assassin."
On 26 November 1963, in a memorandum to Hoover from an assistant director, "*
* * We must recognize that a matter of this magnitude cannot be fully
investigated in a week’s time." In witch Hoover added a notation, "Just how long
do you estimate it will take. It seems to me we have the basic facts now."

In 1976 a Senate Select Committee also investigated aspects of the ( jfk ) Kennedy
assassination when it found that the CIA had recruited the underworld in an
attempt to assassinate Castro. They stated:
"Rather than addressing its investigation to all significant circumstances, including all possibilities of conspiracy, the FBI investigation focused narrowly on Lee Harvey Oswald."
j. Lee Rankin, the Warren Commission General Counsel, before the HSCA, addressing the issue of FBI misconduct in the testimony before their Committee:
"It just raises doubt about the way our government has been conducted and the fact that it seems to be more important to people that they protect their particular agency or bureau than their own country. It does not prove that there was ever a conspiracy. By that I mean conspiracy to kill President Kennedy. But there may have been a conspiracy as far as the commission was concerned, and what they were going to do to it, and it has worked."
The Warren Commission was created on November 29, 1963. By the end of January 1964, the staff of the Warren Commission had been completely assembled. The hearings began on February 3, 1964, and were completed on June 17, 1964. The summer of 1964 was spent writing and editing the report. On September 24, 1964, the Warren report was submitted to President Johnson. The Warren Commission, therefore, lasted a total of 10 months, with approximately 3 to 4 months spent on the investigation itself and the remaining months, as previously stated, on writing the report and organizing the staff.
At this meeting,
Warren also informed the staff of the discussion he had had with President
the fact that the rumors could lead to a
nuclear war which would cost 40 million
for the Warren Commission

INVESTIGATING THE WARREN COMMISSION!
From The Grand Subversions, Dallas Part II section ( The Great Escape )
About 40 Minutes after the President was shot, a Dallas police officer was shot.
Where was Oswald headed after the President was shot:
< HSCA > - Tippit Shooting Scene 2 or 3 Blocks from Ruby's Apt, Etc...
Mr. SAWYER. Did you make any effort either as a staff or, to your knowledge, as a Commission, to determine just where Oswald was going at the time he was intercepted by Officer Tippit?
Mr. RANKIN. We speculated on it but speculations aren't worth much.
Mr. SAWYER. Well, did you find out that Jack Ruby's apartment was about two or three blocks up the street, also on the direct route he was going?
Mr. RANKIN. Yes.
Mr. SAWYER. Did you also find out that in the Dallas newspaper announcement of the President's visit, that on the same page was the identity of an informant who had substantially destroyed the Communist Party in Texas by informing to the FBI and he was identified as living just about two blocks up the street, also on the direct route he was going?
Mr. RANKIN. I don't recall that I was aware of that.

My name is Hurchel Jacks, Texas State Highway Patrolman. I was assigned on November 22, 1963, to drive the Vice President Lyndon Johnson in the Motorcade from the Airport to the Trade Mart.
"Before the President' a body was covered it appeared that the bullet had struck him above the right ear or near the temple." They removed his body at that time. Reporters began to arrive. We were assigned by the Secret Service to prevent any pictures of any nature to be taken of the President's car or the inside.
