Also in his letter Oswald wrote about the Cuban Consul who had since been replaced.

The CIA informed the Commission that Cuban Consul Eusebio Azque had in-fact left Cuba on permanent transfer on 18 November 1963. After 18 years of service there.

This was the man that Oswald argued with at the Cuban Embassy. How Lee Oswald knew of his removal there was a subject of speculations.

He also wrote that the FBI "has visited us here in Dallas, Texas, on November 1. Agent James P. Hasty warned me that if I engaged in F.P.C.C. activities in Texas the FBI. Will again take an �interest� in me."

The claimed warning was one more of Oswald's fabrications.

as Oswald went on to say. In Oswald's imagination "I and my wife strongly protested these tactics by the notorious FBI."

the first sentence in the second paragraph of the letter reads, "I was unable to remain in Mexico indefinitely because of my Mexican visa restrictions which was for 15 days only." The same sentence in the draft begins, before the words are crossed out, "I was unable to remain in Mexico City because I considered useless * * *" As already mentioned, the Commission has good evidence that Oswald�s trip to Mexico was indeed "useless" and that he returned to Texas with that conviction.

In another sentence Oswald would write, "I could not take a chance on requesting a new visa unless I used my real name, so I returned to the United States."

Ruth Paine would testify that Oswald spent the weekend at her home working on the letter. And according to Marina her husband retyped the envelope 10 times. After the assassination one of the drafts was found among Lee�s effects.

To end-up the Oswald file I will touch briefly on some of the reported sighting of Lee Oswald in the last half of 1963.

But first there is another quirk of faith that you should know about.

After Lee Oswald Requested and was granted an early discharge from the Marine Corps,

He was put on inactive status in the Marine Corps Reserve. However when Oswald defected to the Soviet Union, he was given an undesirably discharged. So in January 1962 Oswald wrote to the Secretary of the Navy to Try to overturn that status. At that time the Secretary of the Navy just happened to be one John Connally. The same Governor Connally that would be in the Presidential limousine in Dallas on 22 November 1963. But Secretary Connally had just resigned to run for Governor of Texas, so he advised Oswald that he had forwarded the letter to his successor. The discharge was not changed.
