ATTEMPTS, THE THREATS TO THE PRESIDENT: Before Kennedy arrived in Dallas there were reasons to believe his life was in jeopardy. The Monday before the Texas trip Kennedy had been in Miami Florida. Prior to his visit a police Lieutenant there Everett Kay had made an audio recording between a right wing fanatic named Joseph Malters and a police informant Shortly before the presidential visit there. The two men were discussing the best way to Kill the President and one of Malters suggestions was, from a tall building with a high power rifle.
He also stated
that The plan was in the works.

On
November 17, 1962 and five day before President Kennedy’s visit to Dallas
a
teletype message was received at the FBI’s field office in New Orleans. Where an agent William Walters read the document which was a warning of a possible assassination attempt on the President’s life in Dallas on November 22. After the assassination Walters looked for the original Teletype, but could not find it. He had made a copy of it and latter released that copy. The House Select Committee on Assassination (HSCA) has pointed out that Walters recalled the Teletype was addressed to all special agents in charge of FBI field offices. And in 1968 when he brought out this information, the FBI started an investigation that failed to find any corroboration for Walter’s story. |
And others too numerous to mention here.
First I suppose Kennedy was a northern democrat, the elections where just one
year away and he wanted to shore up votes in the south.
Also Kennedy's Vice President Lyndon Johnson was a long time Senator from Texas,
However in 1960 they won Texas by only 46,233 votes.
According to William Manchester's
Book ( "THE DEATH of a PRESIDENT." )
As he writes; It was a Political issues that lead the President to Texas.
"Governor John Connally and Senator Ralph Yarborough were stalking one another
with shivs."
"If the Governor and the Senator didn't agree to a truce soon, the national
ticket wouldn't stand a chance there next fall."
After Texas stops in San Antonio and Houston, the presidential party arrived
in Fort Worth late in the evening 21 November 1963, and stayed over night at the
Texas Hotel.
The next morning the present meet with a crowd gathered outside the Hotel.
Apparently before leaving the hotel for the short trip to Dallas, the
president Mrs. Kennedy and the Kennedy's close friend and political adviser
ken O'Donnell, discussed the risks involved in presidential appearances. And the
president stated "if anybody really wanted to shoot the President of the United
States, it was not a very difficult job--all one had to do was get in a high
building someday with a telescopic rifle, and there was nothing anybody could do
to defend against such an attempt."
They would then take Air Force One, for the 30 mile flight to Dallas.

After the motorcade left love filed at approximately 11:50 A.M. and was on it rout threw the streets of Dallas. There were large crowds gathered on the sidewalks. And the presidential car would make stops along the way to greet them. |
As the motorcade precede through Downtown Dallas it appeared that this would be an extremely successful trip for the President of the United States. But it would be only a mater of minutes until a criminal act would end the President’s life and Alter, Warp and Distort history for decades.
